Mental Health Awareness Week 2023
Happy Mental Health Awareness Week everyone!
Obviously mental health is kind of my jam, so I’m excited to celebrate this week!
How am I celebrating? Great question!
I’ve made sure to make extra room for balance this week, because I’m great at doing, but not great at slowing down. I started the week at a TRE (Trauma Releasing Exercises) workshop, which was new for me and connected me to my body in a really cool way! I’ve also scheduled in a massage and a class on making sourdough (because two years of lockdowns wasn’t enough for me to figure it out (but seriously, why is it so hard?)). Of course on top of that, I’ll be working with all my amazing clients and yoga students to support their mental health.
How can you get involved? Also great question!
Monday on my Instagram we’ll be kicking things off with a few tips on finding a therapist. All week on my Instagram I’ll be sharing insights and tips to support your mental health.
Wednesday on the podcast I’m interviewing my good friend and fellow therapist, Dee Albert. We talk about integrating personal spirituality and culture into therapeutic practice, the challenges of being a Black woman learning in a white system, and we celebrate what it’s like to be unique and individual. “It's not about changing that script that was given to me in my training as a psychotherapist from this white Western point of view; it was about building on that and adding the spice.”
Saturday at 10:30am BST at Humankind in Brighton we’ll be doing a vinyasa flow designed to help connect our minds and bodies- a crucial (and sometimes forgotten) aspect to mental health
Sunday at 5:30pm BST at Humankind in Brighton I’ll be leading a slow flow to yin class designed to end Mental Health Awareness week with some gentle relaxation and body awareness
Are you struggling with mental health and looking for support? Get in touch to find out more about what I offer!
If you’re in Brighton, I’ll hope to see you on the mat. If you’re far away, I’ll look forward to hearing your feedback on this super fun episode with Dee. Either way, let me know how you are celebrating Mental Health Awareness Week!
Until next week, take good care!
