Celebrating Our Anne-versary! How To Be The You-est You You Can Be

“We're better together. That's the biggest lesson I've learned from traveling is that we are better together.” - Anne Remy

Hey, that’s me! That’s right, it’s ANNE-versary time! We’re celebrating one whole year as co-host of Conversations with a Wounded Healer. OK, by any other name, it’s a clips and montage show. But stay with me, we’re not subjecting you to rote commentary on an endless scroll of episodes. Instead, we’ve cherry-picked some of our favorite a-ha! moments from our favorite conversations. As a whole, we think they represent my personal and professional growth over the past year.

Sarah says, “I was never concerned about Anne’s ability to show up as a host as anything but herself. She’s fearless––not in a cocky vs timid sort of way. Anne’s a courageous interviewer and human. She welcomes the opportunity to explore the limits of her own knowledge, challenge preconceived notions, and totally fangirl where others might play it too cool.”

I won’t lie, these are flattering words coming from my amazing co-host. I was honored and a bit terrified when Sarah asked me to join as her co-host, but I jumped at the opportunity because I love connecting with others and sharing information. It’s been a really fun year, and I’ve grown massively as a person and as a therapist as a result.

Here’s an annotated (ANNE-otated?) summary of some of the clips we’ve pulled for this episode!

Sarah Buino––Who was my first guest? My amazing co-host, Sarah herself! What a way to start!

Dr. Isha McKenzie-Mavinga—I often refer to Dr. Isha as the single most influential person on her work as a therapist and a guiding force in her life. I hope everyone can find someone as influential, inspiring and compassionate to guide them in whatever work they do.

Dr. Cheddar Gorgeous––Sarah’s favorite episode! My most vulnerable interview to date. You’ll hear us revisit this and chat about why.

John Gasienica––Chronic pain is often a signal from the past. We revisit me getting the message in real-time during this episode which lead me to doing John’s training to be able to support others to hear the same messages!

Wandile Mthiyane––If you only remember one word from this episode, let it be Ubuntu! But ubuntu is more than a word; it’s an African philosophy that embodies all of what it means to love in a community and rely on each other. Wandile is a true friend and it always bring me joy to speak to him.

Thanks for revisiting these essential ANNE-versary episodes with us and for being with me on this journey!
